about the land canteen

 every week our menus are designed around what we have growing at our agro-ecological farm in zuidoostbeemster. in high season we farm part of the week, and cook for the canteen on thursdays + fridays. during winter months, we work through what we have preserved and source produce from neighbouring farms. cooking is our way of translating our farm work to the city, with the hope of inspiring connections between people, food, and farming. we offer second helpings of mains and sides if you are still hungry, so that you can leave feeling full and happy.

 

the canteen is a labour of love and we appreciate your support in keeping it running. we invite you to come and share this canteen with us, with friends, with neighbors, with strangers, and with lovers.​​​

over the land canteen

elke week ontwerpen we onze menu’s rondom wat er groeit op onze agro-ecologische boerderij in Zuidoostbeemster. in het hoogseizoen werken we een deel van de week op het land, en koken we voor de kantine op donderdag en vrijdag. in de wintermaanden gebruiken we onze eigen ingemaakte groenten en halen we onze producten vooral bij onze buurboerderijen. koken is voor ons een manier om ons werk op het land te vertalen naar de stad, en zo verbindingen te leggen tussen mensen, voedsel en landbouw. we bieden een tweede portie hoofdgerechten en bijgerechten aan als je nog trek hebt — zodat je vol en verzadigd naar huis gaat.

 

de kantine is een arbeid uit liefde, en we waarderen je steun om haar draaiende te houden.

we nodigen je uit om deze kantine met ons te delen — met vrienden, met buren, met onbekenden, en met geliefden.

our inspiration for the canteen is derived largely from Gordon Matta Clark, Carol Goodden, and Tina Girouard’s restaurant FOOD that was based in SOHO, manhattan in the early 1970s. the restaurant’s menu was experimental and changed daily, but was always affordable and simple.

  • no walk ins, reservation only

  • bookings open the saturday prior

  • on thursdays, you can arrive anytime between 18.00 - 20.00

  • on fridays, you can arrive anytime between 18.00 - 21.30

  • menus change weekly

  • the menu is always vegetarian

  • we cannot accommodate allergies 
    we will post the weekly menu on saturdays along with relevant allergens and whether vegan options are or aren’t possible.

  • reservations cancelled less than 6 hours in advance will not be refunded
